In order to promote wine culture and consumption together with quality lifestyle, during the festival METRO stores will invite customers to participate in wine tasting sessions. METRO wine specialists will be on-hand to share their knowledge of wine and wine tasting techniques with customers, as well as wine stories behind the brands.
METRO Cash & Carry’s wine competence has been widely acclaimed at the international stage. In 2012 the own brand wine “Beaujolais Nouveau André Vonnier” and two others under the exclusive brand “Jean Claude Debeaune” were awarded silver medals at the 12th Trophée Lyon Beaujolais Nouveau, where around 100 wine experts from all over the world blind tasted and judged nearly 400 wine samples of 2012 Beaujolais Nouveau. The competition, established in 2001, is organized each year to award the best wines of the vintage. As the only official competition of the Beaujolais Nouveau acknowledged by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry (DGCCRF), Trophée Lyon Beaujolais Nouveau has become a benchmark and an important tool in promoting Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau in France and abroad.
